2027: Sani Dismisses Obi, Backs Tinubu

Former aenator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has described the wave of support for former presidential candidate Peter Obi as “drama” driven largely by tribal sentiments, while expressing confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027.

Sani made the remarks during a recent episode of ‘The Honest Bunch Podcast’, where he appeared alongside human rights activist Deji Adeyanju to discuss Nigeria’s political landscape and leadership.

Defending the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government, Sani argued that much of Obi’s support base is emotionally driven and would not translate into meaningful change if he were elected.

“The support for Peter Obi is drama. Many of those backing him are influenced by ethnic sentiments. If Obi becomes President today, nothing changes — everything remains the same,” he said.

He further claimed that the opposition offers no real ideological alternative to the ruling party, insisting that Nigeria’s major political figures share similar viewpoints.

“Obi, Olusegun Obasanjo, Atiku Abubakar, and Tinubu all come from the same ideological background. They share similar political thinking,” he stated.

Projecting ahead to the next general election, Sani maintained that Tinubu remains well-positioned to retain power.

“Tinubu will win the 2027 elections. The choice Nigerians have is between Satan and the devil,” Sani added.
