Amid speculations and expectations from many quarters in Kebbi State that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may collapse its structure to join the coalition being led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the state chairman of PDP, Usman Bello Suru, on Wednesday, while addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi distanced the party from the coalition.

According to him, the PDP in Kebbi State is not and will not be part of the coalition. He said, “We will remain in our party, and in the 2027 general elections, we will field candidates in all the elective posts to slug it out with any candidate from any other political party.”

Suru further said that the PDP remains a vibrant and the biggest opposition party in Kebbi State and Nigeria as a whole. “Our structure at the national, state, local government, and ward levels is intact and not part of the coalition,” he added.

He admonished party stalwarts and members in the state to remain united, strong and battle-ready to take on any candidate.

“We are already strategising ahead of 2027 so to think we will join the coalition means we are cowardly and didn’t believe in our strength with millions of supporters across the state,” he said.
He noted that the party will continue to operate within the law as a duly registered political party with a mandate to exercise civic responsibility.
