The South-West Coordinator of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM), Alhaji Abass Olaniyi, has declared that the movement is targeting more than three million votes for the Accord Party’s presidential candidate, Dr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, across the South-West in the 2027 general election.

Olaniyi said the projection reflects the movement’s internal assessment of its grassroots mobilisation capacity across the region, with Osun, Lagos and Oyo states expected to account for the largest share of the anticipated votes.

According to him, Osun State is projected to contribute more than one million votes, despite what he described as Governor Ademola Adeleke’s disloyalty to the party. Lagos and Oyo states, he added, are expected to deliver a combined 1.5 million votes.

The remaining votes needed to achieve the regional target, Olaniyi said, are expected to come from Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti states.

He expressed confidence in GHSM’s ability to expand its grassroots presence through sustained engagement with community leaders, youth groups, political stakeholders and local organisations across the six South-West states.

The coordinator also highlighted Osun as a key battleground, expressing the movement’s expectation that voters would make independent choices in the presidential election, regardless of political alignments involving state-level leaders.

Olaniyi’s projection underscores GHSM’s ambition to position Olawepo-Hashim as a strong contender in the South-West ahead of the 2027 general election.

As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the polls, the movement says it intends to translate its mobilisation efforts across the region into measurable electoral support for Olawepo-Hashim and the Accord Party.

The projected target of more than three million votes represents the movement’s stated ambition, with its eventual performance depending on the effectiveness of its grassroots campaigns and voters’ decisions at the ballot box.
