Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Akwa Ibom State, Prince Enobong Uwah, has assured that votes in Uyo Local Government Area would be delivered in favour of Governor Umo Eno and President Bola Tinubu, stressing that things are better in the area now than they were in the past.

Uwah, the Political Leader of Uyo, expressed this optimism when he presided over a strategic stakeholders’ and leaders’ meeting in his country home in Uyo, the state capital.

Speaking during the meeting, the SSG conveyed greetings from Governor Eno and expressed appreciation to the people for their continued support for the current administration.

He described Uyo as the core of the state government and said the people of the local government area had every reason to support Governor Eno, given the development and opportunities created under his administration.

“Uyo stands at the core of this government. Things are better with Uyo now than in the past. He deserves to be supported by Uyo people,” Uwah said.

The SSG thanked stakeholders for supporting the leadership of Uyo, stressing that leadership was a collective responsibility and that one of the responsibilities of a leader was to create more leaders.

Uwah also commended the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area for his performance, saying he had received reports of the projects and initiatives undertaken by the council administration.

He disclosed plans to hold separate meetings with youths and women in Uyo as part of efforts to further engage different segments of the constituency and assured them that more initiatives and opportunities were forthcoming.

On the 2027 elections, the political leader assured that Uyo would vote massively for Governor Eno, President Tinubu and other candidates of the APC.

He also listed Senator Aniekan Bassey, Hon. Mark Essiet and Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo among the candidates he expressed confidence would emerge victorious.

Uwah urged party faithful and stakeholders to remain focused and avoid being distracted by premature political activities.

He particularly cautioned against meetings and campaigns for the chairmanship of Uyo Local Government Area, saying it was too early and could distract the incumbent chairman from delivering on his mandate.

Earlier, the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, who also doubles as the State Chairman of ALGON, commended Prince Enobong Uwah for the initiative of bringing stakeholders together.

Udo appreciated political leaders who had supported the Uyo political structure, noting that sustained collaboration among stakeholders remained essential to the growth and stability of the party.

He commended residents of Uyo who participated in the recent voter registration exercise, disclosing that more than 20,000 new voters had been added to the register.
