Of this figure, some 2,150 intending pilgrims have completed the payment for the Hajj fares, while about 30 others were yet to fully pay the fares as at the time of filing this report.

The executive secretary of the Kwara State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alh. AbdulSalam AbdulKadir, who confirmed that 2,150 intending pilgrims had made full payments for the 2015 Hajj, added that “fewer than 30 individuals were yet to complete their payments.”

He said the intending pilgrims from the state would be airlifted to Saudi Arabia by Max Air, beginning from mid-May 2025.

Abdulkadir announced that a formal enlightenment session featuring seasoned Islamic scholars will be held on Sunday at the board’s office in Ilorin, the state capital, to provide intending pilgrims with further guidelines.

Meanwhile, the state government has urged the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state while at the holy land.

The secretary to the State Government, Prof. Mamman Saba Jibril, who gave the charge, reminded the intending pilgrims that the journey is a spiritual obligation and not a tourist expedition.

He spoke during a sensitisation programme and prayer session organised for the intending pilgrims by the Pilgrims Welfare Board in Ilorin.

Represented by the permanent secretary, General Services at the Governor’s Office, Alh. Abdulganiyu Shuaib, Jibril emphasised the need for the intending pilgrims to conduct themselves as responsible citizens of Kwara State and Nigeria during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
