24-yr-old Welder Electrocuted At Lagos Building Site

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 24-year-old welder, identified as Adedeji who was electrocuted while working at a building site in the Lagos Island area of the state.

Spokesman of the Lagos Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, a superintendent of police, disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday.

Hundeyin remarked that the incident was reported at the Adeniyi Adele police division at about 1900hrs by a complainant who reported that his elder brother has a plaza at Nnamdi Azikwe Street, Lagos Island which is under renovation and being supervised.

The complainant said a welder named Adedeji ‘m’ aged 24 that was engaged by his brother was electrocuted while working.

“On receipt of the report, the DPO led the patrol team and detectives of the division to the scene and discovered that it is a two-storey building under renovation, the victim was on the second floor when the incident happened.

“His two legs were burnt off while the burnt body was flung down to the first floor,” Hundeyin narrated.

He, however, added, “Photographs have been taken and the corpse has been evaluated at Yaba General Hospital and the doctor on duty confirmed him dead.

“Thereafter, the corpse was deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.”

Meanwhile, the police image-maker added that investigation has commenced on the incident.
