Ahead of 2023 general election, no fewer than 242 polling units with 142,261 registered voters in Katsina State may be affected by the current security challenges in the state.
The head of the Department of Electoral Operation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, Husseni Jaafar, revealed this yesterday, while addressing stakeholders meeting on the display, claim and objection exercise.
He said the affected polling units and the number of registered voters were confined within the 10 troubled local government areas of the state, assuring of the commission’s plan to relocate the voters to safe centres to cast their votes.
He added that the INEC has set up a committee that would be reviewing the security situation in these areas as the election approaches.
