Twenty-five bishops were in Zaria, Kaduna State to witness the ordination of Most Rev. Habila Daboh as the second bishop of the Catholic diocese of Zaria.
Daboh, 53, was ordained at an episcopal ordination and installation ceremony held at St. Joseph’s Minor Seminary Basawa-Zaria, Kaduna.
Catholic Bishop of Sokoto diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah in his sermon the tasked the federal government to uphold the sanctity of human lives.
“The lives and properties of Christians have been wasted by criminals who continue to take the law into their hands. We encourage the federal government to draw a line. Killers must be tried and destroyed property rebuilt and families compensated. It is the only way to punish the criminals and ensure justice,” he said.
Kukah urged the bishops and priests to be patient and guide the expectations of people carefully.
Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna, Most Rev Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso who is also the vice president, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, urged Bishop Daboh to reconcile falling humanity to God.
