No fewer than 100 youths have been trained on various skills and trades by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), in Katsina State.

The beneficiaries were also empowered with starter packs to establish themselves and become self-reliant as contributors to the nation’s economic growth.

According to the ITF’s state area manager, Dauda Lawal said the training which covered vocational and entrepreneurship skills was targeted at equipping the beneficiaries with relevant skills to thrive in their chosen fields.

Lawal who represented the Director General/Chief Executive of the ITF, Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, added that the training was part of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning’s plan to empower 10 million Nigerians within two years through the Skill Up Artisans Programme (SUPA).

He added that the graduation of 100 youths in Katsina is designed to empower the youths to become employers of labour, not just job seekers.

Lawal said, “We urge you to make the most of this opportunity and contribute to the development of Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.

“SUPA is designed to reverse this trend by enhancing the capabilities of unlicensed and uncertified workers, promoting skills development among artisans, and fostering a society that values shared prosperity.”

The training was carried out in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Budgeting And Economic Planning under the ITF’s National Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (NERGP).
