Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has said some members of the State Executive Council (SEC) of his administration’s first tenure would be reappointed to facilitate the success of his second term tenure after inauguration on May 29, 2023.
“This is the problem of time and tenure. Definitely, when you come to the end, irrespective of the fact that you may come back or not, try to make sure you rest of whatever needs to be done in whatever way,” he said.
The governor who spoke at the valedictory session of SEC yesterday, told the members that, ‘It is your duty to see us through, it is your duty to make sure you navigate in your various ministries, departments and agencies to ensure that you have reached the finishing line conclusively”.
“We have a lot of challenges, especially now that we are coming to the end, we may notice some attitudes of civil servants, they may not be at your call or direction, they may be looking at you differently,” he said..
According to the governor, it could have been worse if they had not won, “But certainly we have won and that is why they are now coming to us, but certainly the civil service constituency is not friendly when politicians are going at the end of the day.”
Governor Bala congratulated the council members for their party’s victory at the just concluded general elections, saying “We have not met since the conduct of the elections, so it’s an opportunity to congratulate ourselves for the victory.
“Of course, we have some pitfalls, but we must be very very grateful to God for the victory and to seize the opportunity to meet on behalf of myself and deputy governor-elect, and all those elected for the various positive contributions that you have made towards the success of our returning back to office in 2023,” he said.
