Oyo State Fire Services Agency has recovered the lifeless bodies of two men and a toddler from fire incident that occurred in Ibadan, the state capital and Saki area of the state.
General Manager of the agency, Akinyemi Akinyinka who confirmed the incident in Ibadan on Wednesday, said the two victims were recovered from the wreckages of the fire incident at Ajegede Ode-Ajé in Ibadan, and were handed over to the team of policemen from Agugu Police Division.
Akinyinka also confirmed that the body of a two-year-old toddler was recovered also from a deep well at Orita Mokola Junction, Seedu Sabarumu, Sango in Saki area of the state.
According to the general manager, the fire incident was reported on Tuesday 17th June, 2025 at exactly 7:34pm through a telephone call about a truck accident at the above address.
He said fire personnel led by ACFS Olubunmi immediately deployed to the scene of the incident.
“On getting there, we met a truck loaded with frozen fish which lost control and somersaulted into the nearby river.
“The firemen swiftly engaged their rescue equipment with the concerted efforts from a team of OYRTMA led by Mr. Olukayode from State Secretariat Ibadan.”
Akinyinka attributed the accident to brake failure.
Similarly, he said an emergency call was received at the Saki Fire Station at exactly 1:43pm by a caller identified as Mr. Adewole that someone had fell into a well.
Officers of the agency led by PFS11 Saka quickly left to the scene of the incident and informed at the scene that a two-year-old girl fell inside the well for long.
“We swiftly engaged our rescue equipment and CFM Adediran Jacob entered the well for searching and rescuing operations.
“The girl was recovered and handed over to a team of policemen led by CSP Odunbanjo Kehinde for further necessary action,” he said.
Akinyinka added that the cause of the incident was unknown, noting that fire service Post Incident Investigation Team (PIIT) was being carried out for investigation to unravel the cause of the incident.
