Three persons were killed and four others injured as flood ravaged parts of Yobe community. The flood also pulled down many houses, rendering the occupants homeless.
Mohammed, a relative of the deceased told newsmen the incident occurred on Monday night when heavy downpour, which lasted hours, gathered flood in the narrow waterway and collapsed a fence that pulled down nearby structures.
Speaking with journalists in Damaturu, the executive secretary of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Mohammed Goje, said that the total number of LGAs reporting new incidents include; Damaturu, Yunusari, Fika, Geidam, Karasuwa, Jakusko, Yusufari, Bade, Potiskum and Nangere.
Preliminary reports indicated that the most affected areas included Bulajaji and Jebuwa, where three died, Maimalari and Jebuwa wards respectively of Yusufari LGA.
The assessment in Bade, Jakusko, Potiskum, Nangere and Karasuwa is ongoing. However, four persons (3 adult women, and 1 girl) from Danchua in Danchuwa/Bula ward and Ramin in Dogonini ward in Potiskum LGA and Kanda in Tikau ward of Nangere LGA are currently at the Specialist Hospital Potiskum receiving treatment.
