LEADERSHIP Weekend learned that the latest conflict came after a suspected militia group in Tarbuwa, a community in Zaki local government sharing boundary with Kubdiya community in Gamawa local government stopped a Kubdiya-bound caravan.

A resident of Gamawa who spoke on condition of anonymity told our correspondent that members of the caravan narrowly escaped with machete cuts.

“What happened is that some youths of Tarbuwa in Zaki local government stopped one member of Kubdiya who was on his way to his village and beat him up and burnt his motorcycle. He survived being killed by the villagers as he jumped into a river.

“This didn’t go well with the people of Kubdiya but the district head of Gamawa on hearing about the incident quickly went there and consoled the people.

“However, the next morning as the people were working in their farms, some irate youths went on a revenge mission. The two communities engaged each other with arrows and dane guns and in the process, three lives were lost,” he said.

He said 10 persons were injured at Kubdiya and were receiving treatment at Gamawa General Hospital.
