At least three persons suspected to be Yoruba nation agitators who invaded secretariat of the Oyo State Government in Ibadan were killed while five of them were also arrested yesterday by security agents.
Members of the self-determination group were killed during a confrontation with security operatives at the state secretariat while making attempts to seize the state government’s office.
The agitators had invaded the secretariat in army uniforms with the Yoruba Nation insignia while attempting to hoist the flag of the organisation to take over the state House of Assembly.
It would be recalled that some people suspected to be Yoruba nation agitators had stormed the state secretariat which housed the governor’s office, house of assembly, ministries, agencies and some departments.
Three of the agitators were killed when the security operatives attempted to resist their move to take over the seat of government.
Also, at least five of the remaining agitators were arrested by the security operatives and the suspects are currently in custody of the security operatives in Ibadan.
Meanwhile, Yoruba nation advocate, Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho has dissociated himself from the incident.
Igboho who is a known leader of the Yoruba nation agitation said that proper investigation should be carried out to fish out the people behind the attack and their sponsors.
The Yoruba Nation activist called on Governor Seyi Makinde to carry out thorough investigation to ascertain the motive behind the invasion, urging that those responsible should be arrested and prosecuted.
Igboho further reiterated his commitment to the peace and security of Yorubaland, emphasising that he would never be part of anything whatsoever that could disturb the peace of the region.
