3 Osun Indigent Students Get Grant For University Education

Three indigent university students from Ilobu in Irepodun local government area of Osun State have benefitted from a financial grant from Ilobu Concerned Citizens (ICC), a community-based socio-cultural organisation.

At the presentation of cash gifts to the awardees in Ilobu yesterday, the chairman, Alhaji Kamaldeen Ademola Oladosu, charged the recipients to be good ambassadors of the town and Nigerians, particularly, prominent sons and daughters of Ilobu to impact positively on their town.

Oladosu said the award which is the second of the Jare Adebisi-Balogun Education Grant (JABEG) was organised in memory of one of its members who made a giant stride in his commitment to the growth and development of the Ilobu community during his time.

The chairman noted that the three awardees, Salaudeen Ridwan, a Law student, Adedigba Ismail, Medicine student and Odewale Mubinat a Radiography student emerged through a transparent process conducted by erudite scholars having finally got selected out of nineteen students that applied for the grant.

During the presentation of grants to successful applicants, Alhaji Oladosu emphasised the need for parents in Ilobu to take the education of girl child seriously adding that the community is not doing much in that direction.

In their response, Ismail who spoke on behalf of his colleague awardees thanked ICC for the beautiful initiative and pledged their commitment to be a good ambassador of the Ilobu community.

He also vowed on behalf of others to emulate and reciprocate what he described as the wonderful initiative of Ilobu Concerned Citizens, adding that they will not disappoint the group for their kind gesture. In his goodwill message, Dr Kazeem Durotoye, a cyber- security expert announced a cyber -security training programme for ten indigenes of Ilobu and stressed the importance of cyber security training.
