A non-governmental organisation, Unique Care and Support Foundation (CASFOD), said 34,942 vulnerable persons have benefited from its latest humanitarian intervention in the North East.
CASFOD added that the outreach targeted IDPs, returnees, and host communities in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe most affected by insurgency and displacement.
The executive director of CASFOD, Benjamin John, disclosed this yesterday in Maiduguri during the presentation of the NGO’s annual report, showcasing the organisation’s key achievements, impact and progress recorded throughout the year 2025.
John said CASFOD expanded acess to quality learning opportunities by enrolling 1,498 conflict affected children into Accelarated Education Programmes, supporting 2,015 out-of – school children through pre-enrolment initiatives, training teachers and community volunteer facilitators, and improving learning environments through classroom rehabilitation, borehole installation, latrine construction, and provision of learning materials.
He said in health and nutrition, CASFOD delivered life saving services through large-scale malnutrition screening, treatment and referral systems, adding that a total of 14, 596 children were screened for acute malnutrition, 963: children received treatment for Severe Acute Malnutrition ( SAM ) through Outpatient Therapeutic Programmes ( OTPS ) , while caregivers benefited from MIYCN counselling, cooking demonstrations , and micronutrients supplementation activities.
He added that these interventions strengthened early detection testament continuity, and household nutrition practices.
“Our protection programming focused on strengthening child protection systems , promoting gender-based violence prevention, and strengthening accountability to affected populations.
“CASFOD also maintained active leadership across humanitarian coordination platforms, contributing to sector planning, localisation efforts, and multi- sector collaboration.
“As we look ahead, CASFOD remains committed to delivering innovative, inclusive and sustainable interventions that protect vulnerable populations, empower women and girls, and improve community resilience,” John said.
He added that CASFOD extentd its sincere gratitude to the donors, partners, government, stakeholders and the communities it serve for their trust and collaboration throughout 2025.
