Thirty-six outstanding students have won full tuition scholarships to Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) after emerging as champions in the 23rd Annual National Mathematics Competition (ANMC).

The award ceremony, held in Abuja yesterday, celebrated 19 students from the primary and junior categories and 17 students who will receive 100% tuition coverage for their entire secondary education at various NTIC branches.

In addition, cash prizes and other rewards were presented based on performance.

Samuel Olamide Famiroju of Spring of Life, Fountain of Wisdom, Enugu, who came first in the junior secondary category received N750,000, while his teacher received N500,000.

Onwubiko Chimfiebube of Evergreen College, Enugu, who came second, received N500,000, and the teacher received N350,000. Mosebiuyeyi Adedji of Phidel College, Lagos, who came third, received N300,000, while the teacher received N250,000.

The schools also received various gifts. All these awards cover full tuition, feeding, and accommodation for the students.

In the primary section, the top three students also received cash prizes alongside their schools and teachers.

Egejurum Onyedikachi of Diamond Special School, Imo, emerged first in this category, receiving N750,000, while the teacher received N500,000, alongside other gifts for the school.

Otitoh Chigozirim of Diamond Special School, Imo, who came second, received N500,000, while the teacher received N350,000, along with additional gifts to the school, while Agwuocha Ronald-Leo of Diamond Special School, who came third, received N300,000, while the teacher received N250,000, and the school received a printer.

Speaking, Dr Fevzullah Bilgin, Managing Director of NTIC, congratulated all participants and noted that the competition, now in its 23rd year, continues to serve as a platform to ignite genuine interest in mathematics among young learners.

He said; “From a highly competitive pool of over 10,000 participants, only 83 pupils in the primary category and 16 students in the junior category have advanced to the second round.

“These awards cover their entire secondary education at various NTIC branches. In addition, cash prizes and other rewards will be presented based on performance. However, it is important to emphasise that regardless of today’s outcomes, each one of you is already a champion.

“This alone is a remarkable accomplishment. Indeed, everyone present here today has demonstrated not only excellence but also exceptional intellectual discipline.

“The complexity of the questions you solved reflects your analytical strength an achievement that certainly deserves our admiration,” he said.

Dr Bilgin stated NTIC’s commitment to providing transformative academic support through Olympiad training, advanced science programmes, and intellectual development initiatives.

Currently, he said around 100 students benefit from the NTIC-ANMC fully funded scholarship programme, representing an annual investment exceeding one billion Naira.

“For 23 years, the ANMC has served as a vital platform for advancing mathematical education in Nigeria. Its purpose goes beyond competition; it seeks to ignite a genuine interest in mathematics among young learners.

“It is no secret that mathematics is often perceived with anxiety-even among adults. Yet, initiatives such as this aim to transform that perception into curiosity, confidence, and competence.”

Dr Bilgin also acknowledged the National Mathematical Centre for its partnership and praised parents and teachers for their support.

“These young achievers stand here today because of your guidance and encouragement,” he said.
