Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) has claimed airstrikes carried out by a yet-to-be identified authorities in Nasarawa State killed four herders, 40 Cows and injured many herders and cows alike.
The state chairman of MACBAN, Bala Mohammed Dabo, told journalists in Lafia yesterday that the airstrikes executed between Monday and Tuesday in Abuni community of Awe local government and Adudu community of Obi local government killed a woman and a child among others.
He said the attack was intermittent which was done on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
“I have a distress call by my people precisely 5:00pm from Abuni community that there was an airstrike, a few minutes later I have the same calls from Adudu that a helicopter is firing on cows and people (sic).”
Dabo described the airstrike as an act of terrorism on Fulani herders, adding that he alerted the divisional police officer (DPO) of Obi who went to the scene of the airstrike and confirmed that it was inside Nasarawa not Benue State.
“Those affected in the airstrike are peace-loving Fulani herders, our prayer is that the government should take punitive measures against the perpetrators of the ugly situation” he said.
While calling for compensation from the federal and state governments, he appealed for calm from his community.
He assured the victims that the state government is on top of the situation to provide succour to their pains.
According to Bala Dabo, “we don’t have a state apart from Nasarawa state. The state governor has given us little compensation as part of his contribution to nip any outbreak of skirmishes.
