In accordance with the federal government circular: HSCF/SPSO/268/T3/2/37 issued on 27th July 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the policy mandating directors with eight years or more of service to retire from the public sector.

As a result of this directive, a statement signed by the national commissioner and chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, INEC, Sam Olumekun, said four directors of the Commission will proceed on terminal leave.

Among them, according to the Commission are two heads of departments at the national headquarters, while the remaining two hold positions as administrative secretaries in its state offices.

The Commission highlighted that clinical officers in the medical cadre are exempted from the policy, as explicitly clarified in Circular MH. 7205/T/31 dated 7th September 2023.

The Commission, however, extended its best wishes to the affected directors as they embark on their retirement journey from dedicated public service.
