The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted a 137-member National Campaign Council for the February 21, Federal Capital Territory(FCT) Area Councils election.
The governor of Kwara state and chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is the chairman of the council, while the governor of Imo state and chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Sen. Hope Uzodimma; Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state and Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state are co-chairmen.
In a notice signed by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, posted on the party’s social media platform on Sunday, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, is the council’s Secretary.
It also showed that apart from the governors of Kano, Plateau, Rivers and Taraba states, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Caleb Mutfwang, Siminalayi Fubara and Agbu Kefas; all other APC governors are serving in the campaign council.
This shows that 25 out of the 29 APC governors are in the campaign council for the election into the six Area Councils of the FCT.
Other members of the council include: President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen; Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Jibril Barau; Principal Officers and Appropriations Chairmen of both chambers of the National Assembly.
According to the notice, the council comprised some ministers, members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), state chairmen of the party, former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, amongst others.
The notice said the campaign council would be inaugurated on Wednesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja at 10am.
