The Pate Free Medical Outreach Team has provided free medical services to over 5,000 people, particularly vulnerable members in several communities in Bauchi State.

Speaking to journalists at the end of the outreach yesterday, the chairman of the medical outreach team, Comrade Yusuf Aliyu Fada, said the programme covered locations including Kirfi Town Maternity, the Sarkin Kirfi Palace, Bauchi Central Market and Railway Market, Bauchi.

According to him, beneficiaries received free Hepatitis B screening and vaccination, general medical consultations, and other essential healthcare services.

Fada explained that the outreach also featured sensitisation workshops on breast and cervical cancer for women teachers at Ibrahim Tahir Government Model Primary and Secondary School.

Additional services included cervical cancer screening (Pap smear), breast examinations, and HPV vaccination against cervical cancer in Magama Gumau, Toro local government area, among other communities.

He also disclosed that the organisation successfully hosted the National Annual Conference of the Coalition of Professional Health Volunteers Association of Nigeria in Bauchi, describing the event as highly educative and impactful.

Comrade Fada announced plans to reach over 10,000 people across the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State in the first quarter of 2026. He appealed to the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, for financial support to expand the programme.

He noted that most members of the outreach team are volunteers currently serving in public healthcare facilities, and appealed for greater institutional support to sustain their humanitarian efforts.

The outreach team commended Prof. Ali Pate for what they described as remarkable achievements within two years in office, including the revitalisation of thousands of primary healthcare centres, free caesarean section services, which have contributed to a reduction in maternal and neonatal mortality, 86 per cent subsidised kidney dialysis, and free emergency medical care within the first 48 hours of admission.

The team presented an Award of Excellence to the Minister and urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to continue supporting him for effective healthcare service delivery nationwide.

The group also praised the Chief Medical Director of ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, Prof. Jibrin Yusuf Bara, for his support and leadership, noting that the hospital recently emerged as the best DHIS2-utilising hospital in Nigeria.

The team commended Bauchi State governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for approving the employment of 10,000 youths in the state and expressed hope that members of the outreach team would be considered. They prayed for divine wisdom for the governor to continue the transformation of Bauchi State.
