Speaking at the exercise’s flagging off at Dutse General Hospital, Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi said the programme was part of his government’s commitment to ensure access to basic healthcare services for everyone in the state, regardless of geographical location or economic status.

Governor Namadi, who was represented by his technical adviser on education, Dr Binta Babura, said the beneficiaries were selected from across the 27 local government areas of the state.

He noted that access to basic healthcare for everyone in the state is part of his 12-point agenda. In pursuing this agenda, the government is always ready to collaborate with local and international partners, individuals, and public or private organisations to achieve the desired goals.

“As you can see, the free eye treatment we offer today is sponsored by Saudi Diaspora, a group facilitated by Horizon Foundation, hosted and coordinated by the state government.”
