Organisers of the 5th National Anti-Corruption Half Marathon Race have shifted the 21km race from December 7 to 21, 2024 due to unforeseen circumstances.

The national coordinator of the marathon, Jacob Onu, announced this yesterday, saying the change in date was due to logistics reasons.

“On behalf of our host city, Abuja, our sponsors, and other partners we sincerely apologize for having to shift the date.

“We are aware that it will cause some inconvenience but our aim is to organize a top-notch marathon that everyone will be proud of. We cannot afford to do things in half measures”

“For every inconvenience, kindly bear with us,” Onus stated in a press release made available to our correspondent last night.

Already, the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) and Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC), Code of Conduct Bureau , Public Complaint Commission (PCC) and other anti-corruption agencies have thrown their weight behind the fifth edition of the National Anti-Corruption Half Marathon, aimed at raising national consciousness on the scourge and danger of corruption to the country and humanity in general.

Meanwhile, over 3,000 athletes have signified their intention to participate in this year’s marathon with One million naira as the Star prize for both male and female categories while the runners-up will get N700,000 and N500,000 respectively.

The 21.5km distance race will be flag-off by top government functionaries at the Eagles square at 7am with members of the National Assembly Anti-Corruption committee, business leaders and host of other eminent Nigerians also expected to come and be part of the exercise to rid Nigeria of corruption.
