Six men have appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, over alleged deprivation of liberty.
They were Akeem Rashid, Lukman Adedosu, Taofeek Adeshina, Kolade Onifade, Lateef Jongbo and Bankole Abdulfatai.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing charges of conspiracy, breach of peace and deprivation of liberty.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), they all pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 29 at about 3.50 p.m. in the Ido area of Ibadan.
Folaranmi alleged that the defendants unlawfully detained one Olayode Omotosho and restricted his movement without lawful justification.
He said the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by depriving the complainant of his personal liberty.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 249(d), 365 and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, granted each defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until June 30 for hearing.
