7,543 Graduate From Bauchi Varsity

A total of 7,543 students have graduated from the Bauchi State University Gadau (BASUG) for six sessions with first degrees, postgraduate diplomas, masters degrees and doctorate degrees.

Vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Fatima Tahir, while speaking with journalists yesterday, said it would present the graduates  during its first combined convocation today.

According to her, the total number of graduates to be conferred with first degree at the ceremony stands at 7,196, out of this number, 185 which represents 2.6 percent bagged first class, 2,411 which represents 33.5 percent who graduated with second class upper.

She said the university was established in the year 2010 to serve as a catalyst for educational development thereby serving the need for sustainable growth of the state and beyond.

She said, “Furthermore, the university will confer on deserving candidates who have lived up to expectation of academic excellence and moral character will also be officially recognized and celebrated.”

She also announced that the council and senate of the university approved to confer honorary doctorate degree on some personalities including Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu Suleiman, Emir of Katagum, Umar Faruk, Elder statesman late Sa’adu Zungur and former Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda.
