9th NYG: Bayelsa Teams Excel, Delta Grabs Gold In Karate

As the Youth Games enter its crucial stages in Asaba, Delta state, Bayelsa athletes recorded impressive victories while Delta’s Jennifer Ekaata Ehiozibue clinched gold in Karate.

In basketball, Team Bayelsa’s female squad overpowered Team Niger with an emphatic 8–2 win in their second game of the tournament.

The male team was equally dominant, outclassing Team Imo in a commanding 16–1 victory to strengthen their chances of progressing.

Bayelsa’s excellence also extended to Fives, where Olise Authority secured a 2–0 walkover against Team Katsina, following up on his earlier 2–0 win over Team Delta in the opening round.

Meanwhile, in Karate, Delta State’s Jennifer Ekaata Ehiozibue thrilled the home crowd with a dazzling performance to capture the gold medal in the Female +47kg category.

She defeated Chidimma Nwangwu Mary Cynthia of Anambra State in the final with a convincing 7–0 scoreline, underscoring her technical brilliance and dominance.
