The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has signed a memoramdun of understanding (MoU) with a German company, Rohde and Schwaiz for re-engineering of skills through the National Open Apprenticeship and Trainership System.

The director general of ITF, Sir. Joseph Ari while speaking to newsmen after a tour of facilities and signing of the MoU with representatives of the German company said last year, they unveiled a policy direction known as the re-engineering of skills through the national apprenticeship and traininership system.

According to him, after unveiling the policy document, the ITF decided to look for partnership in Germany and Rohde and Schwaiz. came handy as company that is more or less a household name.

Ari explained that  they believed that the partnership would go beyond the ITF  as it would be beneficial to the people and economy of Nigeria.

He added that a lot of their workshops across the country were yearning for equipment and they believed that this partnership would give vein to Rohde and Schwaiz coming to their aide in the area of equipment to further boost the equipment presence in centres across the  country.

“Do not forget we have over 40 area offices with vocational wings. If we have equipment as a result of this partnership, a lot of Nigerians will be equipped with skills for entrepreneurship for employability to create wealth and jobs. So they are so many things to benefit from the partnership.

“Above all, even in curriculum development, because it will place the ITF among global best practices in terms of the training trends and so that way it means whatever Rohde and Schwaiz will be doing at the international level the gateway to Nigeria will be through the ITF,” he said.

According to Ari, the ITF  will also benefit from what happens globally, as they will be able to bring the chunk of it and leverage on that in developing human resources.

Also in their remarks Prof. Paschal Anosike a professor of knowledge management and entrepreneurship and  Klaus Schneider both consultants with Rohde and Schwaiz said the ITF is a well-run federal government agency that is committed to the actualisation of its mandate and statutory functions.
