The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has given 7-day ultimatum to the management of Multichoice to jettison its planned hike in subscription fees or face the wrath of Nigerian students.

The vice president, External Affairs, NANS, Akinteye Babatunde-Afeez, who made this known to LEADERSHIP cited the additional hardship the hike will bring on Nigerians as reason for the ultimatum.

According to NANS, the planned hike is inconsiderate of the current economic realities whereby most Nigerians are finding it tough to live comfortably.

Recall that the NANS, South-west Zone, in reaction to the planned hike on DSTV and GOTV subscription rate by MultiChoice Nigeria, vowed to embark on protest if they should go ahead with the planned hike.

Recall that MultiChoice had announced an upward review of prices on its DSTV and GOTV packages by 17 per cent, in text messages sent to its subscribers. It stated that the new rates would take effect on May 1, 2023, explaining that, rising costs of business operations was the reason behind the increase.
