The Nigerian Army and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps have strategized on how to protect oil pipelines, private and public facilities from vandalism in Abia State.

The state commandant of the civil defence corps, Paul Igwebuike, stated this after a meeting with the commander, 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Brig-Gen Adegoke Adetuyi, in Ohafia.

According to him, security agencies are at their best when interagency rivalries are jettisoned because collaboration puts the security agencies ahead of the enemies of the state.

He said the army’s deposition had among other things engendered team spirit among the security agencies, improved the quality of their service and the relative peace in the state.

He expressed appreciation to the Army for the resent training and retraining of the corps personnel in light arms and weapons handling which he said had improved their weapon proficiency.

Igwebuike used the forum to deliver a  message of condolence from the commandant-general of the corps, Ahmed Audi, to the commander over the death of his mother,  Eniola Adetuyi.

On his part, the commander explained that the peace was bought with a great price, adding that it was a consequence of the synergy existing among the security agencies.

Adetuyi said the just concluded general elections witnessed less security hitches in the state contrary to comments and predictions by mischief makers in the build up to the exercise.

He, therefore, assured of the readiness of the brigade to continue to partner with the corps on manpower training, logistics and other areas to enhance its operations.
