War is never the solution and neither is it pleasant. I remember back in the days when I was little and myself and Altine would go to play at Altine’s grandma’s home. Iya loved having us around and she would prepare special treats she knew we liked. And as we gobbled them up, she would tell us of stories from way back then when they were young.

There were times she would mention what had happened during the civil war. Now, I understand why she would pause once in a while and the tears would cloud her eyes. Then she would get a grip and smile mirthlessly to change the topic to something else, because she feared our young minds would not be able to understand. War, no matter what is a lose-lose situation.

Logically, both sides end up losing something. I really hope that both warring sides in Sudan can take a seat and dialogue. This war is killing people, destroying properties, in the end it effects everyone.
