An Event Expert and Creative director of 2A’s Events Ltd, Abosede Abisagboola has called on government at all levels to create an enabling environment for professionals in the hospitality/ event industry to thrive amid the current economic challenges.

Abisagboola made this assertion recently in a media session sharing her experience in the event industry against all odds in a tough economy.

The expert pointed out that the cost of doing business generally in Nigeria today, is going overboard except there’s a quick intervention by policy makers.

“Players in the hospitality terrain are so much constrained with the rising cost of doing business due to inflation in the economy despite our immense contribution to the economy.

“However, the realities of the situation has not deterred us, instead it has toughened us and made us become more resilient to push beyond limits. We are challenged to look inwards and value collaborations within and outside our industry,” she pointed out.

Abisagboola, revealed that, she came into the hospitality industry in 2009 and have been providing Planning, Co-ordination and Decorations to her highly valued clients.

In a bid to increase value, she enrolled and became a graduate of Event School London, and today is a certified member of the Association of Professional Party Organisers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN) and has had the privilege to serve as Public Relations director.

Sharing thought on how industry players can thrive in this times, she said: “Event industry players must scale by embracing innovative and creative ways of delivering excellent services using modern day tools, partnerships, technology and ingenious ideas to move ahead of the tides that’s forcing high cost of doing business down our throats as it is.

“A good example will be to cut all overheads or running cost that can be alternated in order to function daily without bringing your event business to a halt. Look into your business to see the most effective way of rendering services using readily available tools and leverage on reliable partnerships/networks to grow at this time.”

On practical steps she has taken to develop herself and her brand over the years, the event expert stated that, “I’ve been privileged to develop myself through local and international trainings, as well as educative conferences that gives exposure and networking opportunities.

“As part of my professional development, I have been intentional in joining event industry associations as well as other professional bodies where I consistently hone my skills as an event expert and entrepreneur.

“All these has positively influenced my brand over the years, with our team taking-on great feats in delivering excellence in event services that gives clients best of value as per their needs.”
