African U18/20 Athletics Meets: Minister Lauds Team Nigeria Feat

The minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare, is full of commendation for Team Nigeria’s contingent to the just concluded African U18/20 Athletics Championship in Zambia for their outstanding performance.

The team won a total of 36 medals comprising 17 gold, 10 silver and 9 bronze to finish second on the medal table behind winner Team South Africa.

Team Nigeria competed at the championships with 41 athletes, while South Africa was represented at the continental athletics meet with over a hundred athletes.

Dare charged the victorious Nigerian athletes to stay focused and disciplined, and to continue to pay attention to their careers so that opportunities to represent the country in bigger competitions can come their way.
