The management of Pure Biotech Company Ltd said beyond environmental remediation, the company would soon begin the distribution of organic fertiliser to farmers to boost cassava production in Benue State.

This came as the company’s corporate communication and public relations manager, Stephen Numbeve dispelled rumour making the rounds that Governor Samuel Ortom is the owner of the Ethanol producing Company, adding that Pure Biotech Company Limited is owned by a Chinese, Liu Yangxi, whose Nigerian name is Jerry Pure.

“Pure Biotech Company is neither owned nor affiliated in any way to Governor Samuel Ortom, he does not own any share in the company as many people erroneously believe,” he added.

He said beyond environmental remediation, touching the lives of the populace especially the host community is important to the company.

“We have also acquired land to commence the establishment of a school to be equipped with modern learning facilities. The company is establishing a standard healthcare facility within her premises which will be accessible to both workers and the community,” he revealed.

He also disclosed that 80 percent of the company’s workforce is from Benue State, including “our host community (Bezu Village) with Over 100 casual workers who are mainly youths.”

While encouraging Benue farmers to go into massive production of cassava because of its high economic value, the company’s spokesperson informed that cassava is used as a raw material to produce ethanol which is used basically by pharmaceutical companies in drugs production and alcoholic beverages, among others, saying “we are diversifying into production of high-quality animal feeds which will take-off this May, 2023.”
