In an effort to support agricultural products value chain development in Bauchi State, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) office has put to use energy-saving rice processing machines in Birshin Fulani, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.

LEADERSHIP reports that the machines which include rice polisher, distoner, maize milling machine, maize threshing machine and packaging machine have been installed under United States (US) Ambassador self-help programme and was initiated by indigenous NGO, The Rescue Initiative for Sustainable Development.

Bauchi State director-general, SDGs, Mrs Lydia John Shehu Gar said the machines will help in improving agricultural and economic activities of women through new advanced agricultural products packaging.

Gar lamented that the Birshin Fulani community despite hosting two higher institutions were left behind in  education and economic opportunity hence the urgent need for such interventions.
