Why North Supports Power Shift to West – Masari

The Katsina State Governor  Aminu Bello Masari has explained why the northern region of the country supported power shift and voted for president-elect Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Masari, while speaking at the Emir of Daura’s palace yesterday, said the northern governors and indeed the people voted for  Tinubu to protect the integrity and prestige of President Muhammadu Buhari and the North who are known for keeping their promises.

He added that Nigeria can only survive based on exploiting rational governments across regions of the country, stressing that God knows the why he created the nation as a multi-cultural and religious entity.

Reiterating that the PDP failed the election to President Buhari in 2015 due to the issue of power rotation to the North, he said that was the reason why they stood firm on Bola Tinubu to win the election even when the North had a stronger candidate in the opposition.

He said, “God will bring leaders from every part of this country, we are hoping God will bring those that have the love of the people, trustworthy and peace-loving leaders.”

He thanked the emirate for the support he received throughout his tenure and urged them to forgive his shortcoming as he bid farewell to the state.

The Emir of Daura, Faruq Umar Faruq, thanked the governor for bringing governance and developmental strides to the state, praying for an increase in his future endeavours.

He then donated two bulls and farm tools to the governor as parting gifts, hoping that the incoming governor, Dikko Radda, would do more he had done for the state.
