Pending a change of plans, the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party leaders and aspirants will meet this weekend over the impasse surrounding the race for National Assembly leadership.

Recall that Tinubu traveled out of the country shortly after the party disclosed its zoning arrangement for the top federal legislative seats.

The APC national chairman Sen Abdullahi Adamu has however hinted that the party would revisit the matter after a series of protests by other aspirants.

A party source told LEADERSHIP yesterday that “The President-elect has promised that our governors, the NWC and all the aspirants will meet this weekend to resolve the issues around the zoning but his boys are busy cutting corners to undermine the integrity of the institution,” the source said.

Meanwhile, it was learnt gathered that one of the contenders for the speakership position, Hon Aliyu Betara met with President-elect, Bola Tinubu at a meeting in Paris, France, and insisted on contesting the position.

“The saving grace is that our speaker in waiting, Betara, who was invited to Paris to meet the president-elect, was bold enough to tell them he would rather fail on the floor of the House on inauguration day than withdraw for Abbas.

“The funny thing is that if they think the G6 can be broken, they are deceiving themselves.

The guys are determined to pursue a common goal to the end unless the president-elect personally interfaces with them,” the source said.
