Nasarawa State government said it is embracing the digital system through the deployment of information and communication technology facilities in a bid to enhance and accelerate activities at the local government level in the state.
It said the emphasis is to ensure effective auditing and reporting in the civil service across the 13 local government areas in the state.
Governor Abdullahi Sule stated this at the flagging off of a three-day sensitisation workshop for newly employed staff of the Auditor-General for Local Governments of the state.
The workshop which was organised by the Office of the Auditor-General of Nasarawa State was to build capacity for absorbed casual workers who are mostly auditors.
No fewer than 45 absorbed casual workers participated in the workshop and are expected to be posted across the three senatorial zones of the state.
Represented by Auditor General for Local Governments, Mr Danladi Apa, Governor Sule said workshop was necessary especially against the backdrop of ensuring global best practices in the public financial management and in order to guarantee accountability, transparency and value for money in the third tier of government.
He noted that the state government had consistently focused attention to strengthening the state civil service given its critical role in economic development.
He stated that given their roles as auditors, much was expected from them to enhance transparency, accountability and productivity for economic growth of the state.
