One of the contestants for the office of the Senate President in the 10th Assembly, Abdulazeez Yari has declared that he will work for a better Nigeria if he emerged.
According to Yari, if he emerged Senate President, he will also work with the executive to ensure that Nigerians get the dividend of democracy.
Speaking at a special victory dinner organised in honour of 109 senators-elect of the 10ty assembly organized by the conference of All support groups (CASG-N) of Nigeria in collaboration with TSN, themed “Unity and reconciliation, setting the agenda for the 10th Assembly in Abuja yesterday.
Yari said, “We are committed to work in harmony for the betterment of Nigeria and by God’s grace we are going to work hand in hand not intended with the executive in oneness.
“I really appreciate the decision of this organization to provide support for me to become the 10th president of the Senate. This is our program and we believe all of you, you will give us support to achieve this for a better Nigeria.
“Let me say here that Nigeria is a wonderful country with wonderful people. We believe in Nigeria and we believe in the unity of Nigeria.
“Each of us, 109 senators were elected. You are in one commitment or the other and you attain a level of life and we strongly believe in all of us,” he said.
In an interview with Journalists on the sidelines of the event, the National Chairman of TSN Engr Kailani Muhammad, said the night has shown that Nigeria can be united anytime despite the diversity.
“The senators have given their overwhelming support and we believe by the grace of Allah,on the 13th of June, 2023, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari Will emerge the Senate president of this country.
“He has passed through many leaders both North, South, he is our political juggernaut in the North and in Arewa Consultative Forum.
“North is now one and we are forming a formidable team to make sure that the Senate President come from the North”
Speaking ahead of the inauguration, Kailani said there are some elements in the country who are saying the inauguration of the President-elect would not hold, stating that they will be disappointed.
“We are happy that the security agencies are doing their job, and we also, the support group that brought this government to power, are not going to wait for some people to bring a crisis into this country,” Kailani added.
