The managing director of Cowrie Assets Management Ltd, Mr Johnson Chukwu, has expressed worry that Nigeria is lagging behind in global records of technological knowledge.

Chukwu stated this when he delivered the combined 2023 pre-convocation ceremony lecture of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, saying the situation doesn’t augur well for the development of the country.

His words: “With the right policies and leadership will, the knowledge can be integrated into the students educational programme through the engagement of experts to guide them.”

Chukwu said the citizens should pay more attention to natural resources and population as countries develop by adding value to their endowments and creating motivation that will improve their standard of living.

Chukwu, who called for focus on developing human capital and factors that will encourage innovations and creativity, expressed the hope that the graduands would contribute to the global technological space.

In his remarks, the rector of the polytechnic, Haglar Okorie, while appreciating the guest lecturer, said the ceremony is the beginning of a new dawn 12 years after the last.

Okorie, who assumed office recently, assured the staff that about three years’ salary arrears and promotion would receive due attention under his administration.
