The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, to immediately stop presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the order on Thursday while delivering judgment in a suit challenging the outcome of the APC primary election conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The judge held that the evidence before the court established that former Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast in the primary and ought to be recognised as its winner.
Consequently, Justice Egwuatu directed the APC to submit Okorocha’s name as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections.
