The recently elected chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Abubakar U. Abdullahi, has said he is determined to undertake significant measures to reinvigorate and redefine the association.
Abdullahi, who serves as the chairman of Abaji local government area council, made this assertion during a press conference following his appointment as the national chairman of the IMC during an extraordinary NEC meeting held in Abuja yesterday.
He expressed his determination to reclaim, reposition, and redefine the association, which had fallen under the control of the faction led by Kolade Alabi through acts of impersonation and other means. Abdullahi emphasized that those who defy the law within the association will face severe legal consequences.
“I am honored to have been chosen as the Chairman of this association, and I accept the responsibility wholeheartedly. I will fulfill my duties with unwavering dedication and efficiency, upholding the standards set by the Association,” he affirmed.
The chairman further pledged to overhaul the association in order to expedite local government development and rectify the tarnished image created by the usurpers through their deceitful practices and fraudulent acts.
As he sets out on this transformative journey, Abubakar said the local government communities across Nigeria can rest assured that he will champion their cause and pave the way for a brighter, more prosperous future.
