LEADERSHIP Award Will Motivate Us To Do More – Julius Berger

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has described its recognition as the LEADERSHIP Company of the Year 2026 as a major encouragement to sustain and deepen its contribution to Nigeria’s infrastructural development.

The construction giant said the recognition would motivate it to do more, particularly in supporting the development of critical infrastructure across the country.

The company stated this while receiving notification of its nomination for the prestigious award from the management of Leadership Group in Abuja.

The award ceremony is scheduled for December 1 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Receiving the award nomination on behalf of Julius Berger, the company’s head of corporate communications, Dr Emieseifa James Agama, expressed appreciation to Leadership Group for recognising its contribution to national development.

Agama said the recognition was particularly significant as Abuja marks its 50th anniversary this year, noting that Julius Berger was using the occasion to document and showcase its contribution to the development of the Federal Capital Territory over the past five decades.

He said, “We are excited that you chose us. You could have chosen another company, but you decided to recognise our efforts.

“We are also excited because this year, Abuja is 50 years old. One of the things we are doing is to highlight the symbiotic relationship between the FCT and Julius Berger in the development of Abuja over the past 50 years.”

According to him, it would be difficult to discuss Abuja’s growth and transformation without acknowledging the company’s role in developing the city’s infrastructure.

He disclosed that Julius Berger was compiling the various projects it had undertaken in the FCT as part of efforts to document its infrastructural footprint and contribution to the capital’s development.

“Virtually all the critical assets built in the city have been built by Julius Berger. You cannot talk about the development of Abuja without talking about the impact of the infrastructural development carried out by Julius Berger,” Agama said.

He added that the documentation would also highlight Julius Berger’s 54 years of operations in Nigeria and its contribution to infrastructure development across the country.

Agama thanked LEADERSHIP Group for the recognition, describing the award as an incentive for the company to sustain its efforts.

“We thank Leadership for this award. This will help us to do more,” he said, assuring that the company’s director would personally attend the December 1 ceremony to receive the award.

While presenting the letter, the group managing director of LEADERSHIP Media Group, Muazu Elazeh, said Julius Berger emerged from a thorough assessment of the activities and contributions of companies and individuals to national development.

Elazeh explained that LEADERSHIP Media Group’s responsibility goes beyond holding government accountable, as the organisation also recognises individuals, companies and institutions that have distinguished themselves through their contributions to society.

He said the annual awards were designed to encourage organisations and individuals making significant contributions to national development to sustain and improve their efforts.

“Every year, the board of editors meets at Leadership, and we thoroughly scrutinise the activities of companies and individuals. We pick those that stood out the most.

“When we met this year, we all agreed that Julius Berger came up tops. Its footprint in infrastructural development in Nigeria cannot be washed away, and that is one of the things Leadership has observed and which informed our decision to confer this award on the company,” Elazeh said.

He described Julius Berger as synonymous with infrastructure development in Nigeria, citing its long-standing presence and contribution to the country’s built environment as key reasons for the recognition.
