Irabor said, “Our determination to uphold democratic growth is rock solid. I assure that the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies will consolidate all the successes recorded so far especially on the ongoing counter insurgency and anti-banditry operations across the country.

“We shall continuously and tirelessly strive to secure all that constitute Nigeria’s wealth as our own contribution to national development.”

Irabor thanked the president for gracing the occasion saying, “Your coming has boosted our morale.  Consequently, I hereby reaffirm our loyalty to the president and the constitution of Nigeria as this administration rounds off.”

Buhari in his remarks commended members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for their contributions towards the success of 2023 elections and charged them to be resolute in the face of the country’s security challenges.

He said, “Until the issue of insecurity is surmounted, much more is still desired from the Armed Forces of Nigeria”.

Buhari commended the military for their loyalty, hard work, dedication and selfless service to the nation.

“ I am fully aware of all your sacrifices and commitments in tackling the myriad of security challenges and your contributions to the successful elections in our country.

“However, until the issue of insecurity is surmounted, much more is still desired from the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Consequently, the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies must always remain resolute in the face of the country’s insecurity challenges.

“Our administration before winding down will never relent to widen the support of the military to enable them to effectively perform their constitutional responsibilities. The ultimate sacrifice of our fallen heroes will never be in vain and the almighty God continues to grant them eternal rest,” he said.

He noted that the military is a daunting profession that requires men and women to be well motivated to perform their duties effectively.

“This motivation method includes providing recreational facilities, barracks accommodation,  medical and loan scheme,” he added.

He said, governments of nations often seek different measures to satisfy their military personnel for enhanced operations and effectiveness.

“The commissioning of the Armed Officers Mess is a step in line with this policy.  For me, the regimental dinner organised for me to mark this occasion is very significant because it presents me with another opportunity to reflect positively on the past, present and future of our armed forces,” he said.
