10th NASS: Niger Delta Youth Leaders Insist On Akpabio, Barau

Youth leaders in the Niger Delta region under the auspices of the Coalition of Niger Delta Youth Leaders, have endorsed the candidature of Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Jubril Barau, as senate president and deputy senate president of incoming 10th National Assembly.

Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday, the coalition’s sole administrator and national leader, Adokiye Mujiton, said the youth leaders were confident that with Akpabio and Barau, Nigeria will have a brace senate that will co-operate and work diligently with the executive to make laws and oversight duties that will improve the lots of Nigerians as a country and her blessed citizens.

Describing the former senate minority leader as the most qualified to be next senate president, Mujiton called on all senators-elect, irrespective of their political affiliations, to vote massive for the duo.

He said, “Furthermore, we have accessed all the contenders to the office of President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and have come to the following conclusion: That we find Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio as the most qualified to be senate president in the 10th National Assembly.

“We are confident as youth leaders in Nigeria that with Akpabio as senate president and Barau as deputy senate president, Nigerians will have a brave senate, that will co-operate and work diligently with the executive to make laws and oversight duties that will improve the lots of Nigerians as a country and her blessed citizens.

“Finally, we hereby endorse  Akpabio for the position of the senate president and Barau as deputy senate president in the in-coming 10th National Assembly. 

“We call on all the senators-elect (irrespective of their political affiliation) to give massive-block vote to the candidature of Akpabio as senate president upon their inauguration as they convene.”

The coalition’s leader stated that the Niger Delta youth leaders support and encourage the federal government to strengthen relevant institutions that will have direct or indirect roles to play during the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
