The traditional prime minister of the Mgbele community, Isama of Mgbele, was also assassinated in the same Oguta LGA.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the two traditional leaders were killed in separate attacks at different locations.

The Orsu Obodo traditional ruler, according to community sources, was assassinated inside his car at Umuamaka Junction in the neighbouring town of Izombe.

The source further stressed that the attackers went ahead to set his lifeless body ablaze inside his vehicle.

However, another source revealed that the Mgbele traditional prime minister was killed in his hometown.

According to the source, military and other security personnel have taken over  Izombe, Mgbele, and neighbouring communities, so as to apprehend the culprits.

The late Eze Igwe of Orsu Obodo was said to have been accosted when he was driving  towards Umuakama Junction.

According to a source, “they shot him, lit him on fire in his car, and  fled the scene.

“Soldiers and other security personnel are actively searching the villages for the attackers as I speak to you.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Henry Okoye,  could not be reached for comment in respect of the ugly incidents as all efforts to reach him proved abortive as at press time.
