The Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM) has condemned the alleged killing of its member, Mr Kenneth Gyang, by troops of “Operation Safe Haven” (OPSH) in Vwei (Mararaba-Jama’a) of Kuru District, Jos South local government area of Plateau State.

The group in a statement signed by its national publicity secretary Rwang Tengong called for immediate payment of N100 million compensation for Gyang’s murder and the property they destroyed.

LEADERSHIP gathered that Gyang was among other mourners in a procession from Zawan Mortuary for the burial of a relation at Kuru Community but on approaching the OPSH checkpoint, one of the troops ordered them to stop and push their motorcycles.

He said when they asked him the rationale behind the order, the officer opened fire on the victims, leaving one dead and another injured.

Tengong said another unfortunate incident was the destruction/burgling of homes, a church auditorium, shops and property in Mararaban-Jama’a after the tragedy.
