Face of Humanity Nigeria, Beauty Queen, Miss Chika Ezenwa alongside other stakeholders have called on the federal government and influential individuals to mobilise resources and introduce policies to uplift the less privileged in Nigeria.
Ezenwa who made the call during a stakeholder’s dialogue on Nigerian Indigenes rights, themed Protecting the Rights of Indigenes: Problems and Solutions for the Nigerian State, which also addressed the challenges of the less privileged and persons with disabilities, said that with collective effort both demographics will receive the support and opportunities they deserve.
Expressing her belief in the power of humanity and communities’ unification to impact positively the life of the less privileged, she highlighted the need for raise the awareness amongst the general populace about organizations dedicated to safeguarding their rights.
She further called on government and relevant stakeholders to support similar initiatives that aim to create a better world characterised by justice, equality and respect for gender and ethnicity.
Senior Human Rights Adviser with the United Nations (UN) Country Team, Adwoa Kufuo echoed the significance of recognizing, protecting and promoting human rights. Highlighting human rights as the core of the UN’s pursuit of peace and development, Kufuo called on Nigerians to uphold the standards that safeguard the survival, dignity, well-being and rights of indigents, while also addressing the discrimination they often face.
She also emphasized the need to foster their active participation in decision-making processes and to respect their unique priorities in economic, social and cultural development.
