Police Bust Syndicate Vandalising Rail Lines, Recover Exhibits In Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has busted a gang of rail line vandals and impounded their conveyance vehicles carrying exhibits of their heinous crime.

Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Muhammed Jalige, said following a credible intelligence recieved by the Command, personnel of the State Police Command on June 22, 2023 at about 2230 hours busted the gang of rail line vandals.

He disclosed that an unspecified number of unknown persons went to Sanzwan in Zonkwa, Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the State, in an articulated vehicle (DAF) with Reg No: DAL 172 YL and vandalized about 600 pieces of railway slippers.

“On receipt of the information, Police personnel were quickly mobilized to the scene of the crime and on sighting the Police officers, the suspects fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle meant to convey the vandalized items,” the PPRO added.

Although he said no arrest was made but the said vehicle was immediately impounded and the exhibits therein recovered.

He further disclosed that on Sunday, June 25, 2023, two additional trucks fully loaded with railway slippers were equally recovered and efforts were being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects as investigation was in progress.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the State has commended the gallant personnel for halting the vandals’ activities while charging the public to always make credible information available on time to security personnel.
