Vice chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Professor Simeon Adebayo Bamire, has warned newly admitted students in Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) Ondo to shun cultism, examination malpractice, vandalism and other social vices or face expulsion.

Bamire, who was represented by the dean, Faculty of Education, OAU Ile-Ife, Prof. B.A. Omoteso, who made the remarks in a speech delivered at the 2022/2023 matriculation, held for 2,442 students admitted for the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and degree programmes in ACE Ondo, which took in the college.

Describing the college o as one of the best in Nigeria, the VC assured the students of a bright future, saying since the institution is currently affiliated with OAU, the certificates that those of them who were admitted for degree programmes would receive at the end of their studies, “would have Obafemi Awolowo University written on them.”

While stressing the need for the students to be conscious of the fact that their primary aim of coming to the college is to study and get degrees at the end of their training, the university administrator  advised them to regard other activities beside academics as secondary.

The VC listed tips on how students could succeed in their studies to include the need to be proactive in learning, understanding that learning is an active process, identifying learning goals and styles as well as development of study plan, making effective use of technology and good management of time.

Also, the provost of the college, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, congratulated the students and urged them to make the best use of the opportunity given to them to study in the institution.

Akintunde stressed the importance of the matriculation oath read by them, saying by reciting its content and appending their signatures, they had signed a legal bond with the college, which entails that they should become good ambassadors within and outside the institution.
