Kano State Head of Service, Alhaji Usman Bala, Accountant General of the state, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam  and the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye, have risen to clarify the  controversy surrounding the stoppage of the salaries of 10,000 civil servants in the state.

Speaking during a  media interaction at the office of the commissioner for information yesterday, the Head of Service described the decision to stop their salaries as apt and in line with civil service rules and regulations.

He said a powerful committee  had been set up to conduct a thorough investigation on the authenticity of their qualifications and the processes followed in employing them into the civil service months to expiry date of the former governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Usman Bala stated that the government would resume payment of those cleared, especially the ones employed rightly among them with genuine qualifications.

“Those who are not qualified and or followed through dubious means to get into the service will be  shown the way out because the state civil service will not allow its name to be dragged into the mud,” he said.

The accountant general expressed dismay over current developments in the state civil service.

He said; “The NNPP government led by Alhaji Abba K. Yusuf came in with new vigor and determination on how to run a transparent government  and reform the civil service,  that is why those of us with discipline in financial management took the challenge to check the excesses of government officials when they intend to go ultra vires or expose their corruptible acts  for the public to know.”

The information commissioner delivered the governor’s sallah  message and appreciated the peaceful celebration in the state.
